IGP Meets SF (J) Commander

New Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chandra Fernando, met Major General Sunil Thennekoon, Commander Security Forces Jaffna [SF (J)], on Monday (18) during his first official visit to the Jaffna Peninsula after assuming the new office.

Jaffna Security Forces Commander received the new IGP at the Security Forces Headquarters (SF HQ) and briefed him about the present security situation in the peninsula.

A mango sapling was planted by IGP Chandra Fernando at the premises of SFHQ and placed his signature in the VIP's book to mark his visit before he exchanged memento with the SF (J) commander as a token of their meeting.

Mr. Chandra Fernando, after addressing all ranks of the Kankesanthurai Police, had discussions with the Northern Naval Commander, Rear Admiral L.E.Dharmapriya, Jaffna Archbishop Rev. Thomas Soundranayagam and some officials of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Jaffna.

IGP Chandra Fernando returned to Colombo the same day evening.
