IDPs Can Now Exit Welfare Centres &;amp; Return

INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDP) in Vavuniya, Mannar, Welioya and other areas are given permission from today (1) onwards to move about freely outside those Welfare Centres and return after sometime. 

The Government’s initiative under “Freedom of Moment” will thus enabled about 6769 civilians comprised of 2100 civilians from Zone zero, 718 from Zone-I, 2022 from Zone-II, 620 from Zone-III, 369 from Zone-IV, 377 from Zone-V, 190 from Zone-VI, 227 from Dharmapuram and the rest from Weerapura, Sumathipura, Welioya and Mannar Welfare Centres to go out from those centres by 10.00 a.m. this morning (1).   

Civil authorities with the cooperation of Army and Police personnel facilitated this new procedure in accordance with security procedures. Those displaced civilians, depending on their specific requirements are permitted to either visit any places or their next of kin outside those Welfare Centres and return to their Welfare Centres. 

Latest reports said out of 9131 who had left Welfare Centres for rest and relaxation and also to meet their friends and relatives outside, 3200 persons have so far return to their respective Welfare Centres.

The remaining balance is to be expected within next two to three days
