Huge Buddhist Flag, Crafted by NCO to Decorate Army HQ Building for 'Vesak'

A creative and decorative masterpiece, crafted by an Army Senior Non-Commissioned Officer on account of the forthcoming Vesak commemoration saw it presented this morning (17) to the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at the Army Headquarters.

The huge Buddhist flag, 100X50 ft in size, expected to decorate the Army Headquarters main building during Vesak (thrice blessed day) was creatively produced by Sergeant K.K.M Pushpakumara of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police taking an own initiative using his own resources.

A similar flag was produced in 2020 for Vesak by the same artist to be hung atop the Colombo District Secretariat building at Colombo 5, which came in for praise of the District Secretary in 2020.

The Army Chief appreciated his creative talent and the initiative and wished him good luck with his art works in future.

Major General Sanjaya Wanasingha, Adjutant General, Major General Ranjan Premalal, Colonel Commandant of SLCMP and few Senior Officers were present at the venue.
