HR & IHL Advanced Course at IPSOTSL Ends

The Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (HR & IHL) Advanced Course - No 26 of the Sri Lanka Army that commenced in August 2023 at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) in Kukuleganga drew to a close on Tuesday (12 Sept) during a brief ceremony.

The course, devised by the Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (DHRIHL) under the guidance of Colonel N.S Nalleperupa USP, Director, DHRIHL was attended by Army (17), Navy (3) and Air Force (2) Officers, representing Tri Services.

The primary objective of this course was to enlighten junior-level officers on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, its profound implications and humanitarian and legal aspects while providing alternative measures to prevent such violations.

The top-performing participants in the course were Commander K.E. Buddhika of the Navy (1st place) Captain W.G.D. Thathsara of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (2nd place) and Lieutenant Commander H.H.R. Prabath of the Navy (3rd place).
