The Dimbulagala Buddhist Association in recognition of dedicated services being performed by Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Forces-East, Major General S.R.K Hettiarchchi RWP RSP VSV USP psc ndu, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna and Major General S.A Kulathunga General Officer Commanding (GOC), Engineer Division (Former General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division) conferred the honorary title, 'Janajaya Sadana Samaggha Sri Deshabandu’ on them during a ceremony held at Welikanda Cultural Centre on Sunday (30 July).
This honorary recognition is annually awarded to Officers of the Armed Forces and civil activists who are committed to render their service for society in the fields of patriotism, public safety, and welfare in the eastern province.
Ven Sinhapura Chethiyalankara Nayaka Thero, Senasanadhipathi (incumbent) at Dimbulagala Aranya monastery and Sanghanayake Thero for Thamankaduwa Depalatha presided and awarded the honorary title to aforesaid three Senior Officers during the ceremony.
Members of the Maha Sangha in Dumbulagala area, Staff Officers at the Security Force Headquarters - East, organizers and the laity participated in the ceremony at Welikanda.
