HE the President Inaugurates Newly-Erected Home of Veterans

Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) welcomed its new Headquarters Complex located in Sri Jayawardenepura, Colombo on 22 May 2024 during a formal ceremony presided by HE the President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

A distinguished gathering inclusive of Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the President, General Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera RSP USP ndu psc, Commander of the Navy, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa RSP VSV USP rcds psc, Commander of the Air Force and Senior Officers also took part in the ceremony.

Fulfilling a much-awaited need of the Tri-Service Veterans, the new two-story building is comprised of a conference hall, club house, board room, mess and an office complex. Troops of Sri Lanka Navy carried out the construction of the facility.

Soon after the arrival, HE the President, was invited to unveil the plaque in marking the inauguration of the new Headquarters Complex. Afterwards, the gathering visited the premises.

Major General W.G.M.U.R Perera (Rtd), President of SLESA welcomed the gathering during his welcome note before the day’s chief guest addressed the audience. Signifying the importance of the day, President of SLESA presented a special memento to HE the President. Later, Secretary General of SLESA delivered the vote of thanks. A group photograph culminated the day’s itinerary.
