HAHN Talks to Logistic Officers & Professional Chefs at Army Hospital

The ongoing ‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ (HAHN) project of the Army Hospital conducted another educative programme at the Army Hospital auditorium at Narahenpita on Friday (15) to educate Officers in-charge of logistics and a large number of professional Army Chefs to prepare a ‘Healthy Meal’.

The HAHN project included the culinary techniques, cocking methods of a healthy meal, preventive measures of preparation of a nutritious meal, educational programmes and lectures on Diabetes and non communicable diseases and its complications. Those subjects were taken up for discussion during Friday’s (15) programme.

Brigadier (Dr) A.S.M Wijewardene, Head of the HAHN project, Colonel R.M.M Monaragala, Consultant Psychiatric, Lieutenant A.C.K Udugama, Mr Darmasiri Silva, Senior Chef, Ms Kumuduni Satharasingha, Nutritionist spoke at length on non-communicable diseases and explained their complications stressing the need to prevent them.

Parallel to the lecture session, including videos, a clinic to screen sugar levels and blood pressure was also conducted at the same venue by members of the HAHN project as part of the day’s programme.

Brigadier (Dr) A.S.M Wijewardene, Head of the HAHN project highlighted the importance of organizing such awareness programmes during the inaugural session of its launch.

Around 150 Officers and Other Rankers including Quarter Master (QM) Officers representing Island-wide Security Force Headquarters, professional Army Chefs attached to the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Training School, Anuradapura and the Regimental Headquarters, senior Army Officers and Other Rankers participated in the event.
