GW Wins Para Swimming Meet Trophy

Gemunu Watch (GW) Swimmers competing in the Army Para Swimming Meet won the trophy for the year 2011 during the tournament at Kuruwita GW Headquarters.

This swimming tournament, competed by 171 swimmers of 12 Regiments under 8 medical categories got underway for two days with the intention of promoting mental and physical health of those disable War Heroes who sacrificed their legs and limbs in defence of the country.

Major General M.K Jayawardana attended the final stage of the tournament as Chief Guest and gave away trophies to the winners. It was the Gajaba Regiment (GR) swimmers who held the trophy continuously for three years (2008, 2009, 2010) until the GW beat them and emerged as winners. GR team carried the 1st runners-up trophy.
