Troops of the 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch (1 GW), participating in the ‘Clean Sri Lanka Project’ at Saranya Tamil School in Kandegedara, successfully rescued a civilian buried under a landslide near a house close to the school on 03rd March 2025.
The troops, under the 112 Infantry Brigade, were engaged in the environmental initiative when they were alerted to the emergency. Acting swiftly, they conducted a rescue operation, ultimately saving the trapped civilian.
The rescued individual received immediate medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition.
