GW Field Shooters &;amp; Football Players Recognized

Award of colours and certificates to Gemunu Watch soldiers excelled in field firing in the Army Inter Regiment Field Firing Tournament and football (2010-2011) took place recently at Kuruwita Gemunu Watch Regimental Headquarters.

Gemunu Watch shooters (open / novice), possessing the unbroken Championship record for seven consecutive years received their trophy and certificates from the Chief Guest Major General S. Udumalagala, Colonel of the Regiment and Quarter Master General on the occasion.

Chief Guest Major General S. Ududmalagala, accompanied by Major General L.B.R. Mark, Commander Security Forces, Mullaittivu, Major General M.K. Jayawardena, Security Forces Headquarters, East (Forward Maintenance Area), Minneriya, Brigadier J.C.P. Pakshaweera, Brigadier A.A. Kodippili, Mr C.P. Wanigasuriya and several senior officers were welcomed at the main entrance to the Gemunu Watch Regimental Headquarters before they were conducted to commence the day’s proceedings.

Colours and certificates to those winners in football were also given away on the same occasion by the Chief Guest and other senior officers.

All the participants in the field firing tournament which brought the championship trophy to the team were awarded those colours and certificates.

Towards the end of the ceremony, several senior Army officers and the football instructor who have rendered an excellent service to GW teams in shooting and football were awarded special tokens of appreciation and certificates.
