GW Bids Farewell to Retiring Senior Brigadier

The Gemunu Watch (GW) Headquarters in a fitting farewell ceremony bade farewell to the retiring Brigadier Janak Jayawardena on Tuesday (Jan 10) at the Regimental Headquarters premises in Kuruwita. It was organized under the guidance of Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, Director General Infantry of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, GW.

Colonel Suraj Gamage, Deputy Centre Commandant, GW warmly welcomed the Chief Guest of the day and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the entrance and accompanied him afterwards to the saluting dais to receive the ceremonial parade accorded by the GW troops.

Subsequently, the protagonist of the day offered a floral tribute to the monument in the compound. Later in the evening, a customary dinner was hosted to the retiring senior officer. The Colonel of the Regiment, GW delivered a farewell note extending a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the service of Brigadier Janak Jayawardena while recalling some of the salient achievements, milestones and memories of the senior officer.

Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks were present at the occasion. Brigadier Janak Jayawardena was serving as the Commander, 641 Infantry Brigade prior to his retirement.
