Gunners Bid Farewell to Retiring Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya

The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) in the Army on Monday (26) bade farewell to one of its outstanding Senior Officers, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, the 20th Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery upon his retirement from the Army after serving more than 34 years. The farewell ceremony was held at the Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda with the participation of a large gathering of All Ranks.

Commencement of the ceremony saw him paying tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes at the Regimental Monument after laying a flower wreath. In keeping with military formalities, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour afterwards saluted the outgoing Colonel Commandant. He was also invited to plant a sapling in the premises as a symbol of memory. Refreshments with All Ranks and an all rank lunch afterwards added symbolic memories to the farewell ceremony.

The day's formalities concluded with the typical Dinning Out, held at the Officers' Mess as dusk fell. Running sport media | Nike Releases, Launch Links & Raffles
