'Gunner Supercross-2015' Thrills Crowds at Minneriya

Sri Lanka Artillery’s pet project, ‘Gunner Supercross - 2015’ motor racing event at Minneriya Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) track, got underway on Sunday (5), amid a huge gathering of about 25,000-30,000 spectators and well-known drivers and riders.

The exciting event, the pride of the Regiment of SLA was held for the 10 consecutive year with the collaboration of the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association (SLADA). Major General Jagath Dias, Chief of Staff, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

On arrival at the venue, the Chief Guest was received by Major General S.A.A.L. Perera, Colonel Commandant, SLA and other senior officers.

The year's most exciting and thrilling experience of the SLA calendar included 22 events with the participation of over 165 local and foreign veterans in the field of motor-racing and motor-cycling who competed in the 1.4 km long track.

Gunner Supercross’ has lavishly contributed towards the welfare of SLA soldiers and rehabilitation projects, of disable SLA War Heroes, families of fallen War Heroes and all the War Heroes in general.   

'Singer' Sri Lanka joined hands with the Gunner Supercross as the main sponsor. Moreover, CEAT Kelani International Tyre (Pvt) Ltd continues as the co-sponsor and Brown & Company PLC remains as the official Battery Partner.

Mr Aravinda Premadasa and Mr Ishan Dasanayaka emerged as the Best Driver and the Best Rider respectively.
