Group of Professionals, Enlisted to SLAVF Awarded Certificates

A group of ten Officers directly- enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) under the professional category completed their joint Professional Officers’ Basic Orientation Course – 10 and Direct Enlisted Officer Cadet Course – 9 (1) at the SLAVF Training School at Diyatalawa and formally passed out on Thursday (13) during a brief certificate-awarding ceremony, held at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters, strictly, adhering to COVID-19 health guidelines.

Those professionals, qualified in IT, Medicine and Accountancy underwent basic adaptation courses at the SLAVF Training School at Diyatalawa and were awarded certificates of proficiency by Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commandant, SLAVF and Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Artillery as the Chief Guest for the occasion.

The Commandant at the VFTS, Colonel H.A Keerthinatha, despite setbacks, posed by health risks completed the training project. In his keynote address to the occasion, Major General Kotuwegoda as the Chief Guest largely focused on the Army's set of core values, century-old culture and norms embedded in the Army, adaptation to the profession, traits of loyalty and integrity which in turn develops a conducive working phenomenon in the organization for a novel transformation and requested those professionals to follow them closely.

The Commandant of the VFTS, who plays a key role in completing the training programme, presented a comprehensive introduction to the training process that was followed by trainees during the awarding ceremony.

The Deputy Commandant, the SLAVF HQ Principal Staff Officer, Inspector of Training, Brigadier Administration, Brigadier Logistics, Colonel Military Secretary(Volunteer), Recruiting Officer and Senior Officers of the SLAVF HQ and VFTS attended the occasion.
