Grade Five Jaffna Top Rankers Recognized

JAFFNA STUDENTS WHO excelled in the recent Grade five scholarship examination were recognized and admired in a special ceremony in Kankasanthurai following an initiative taken by Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna.

The six students who scored the highest marks in the examination received gift parcels worth Rs.2000.00 each plus a computer for St. John Bosco College which produced the best results with 125 passing the examination creating a new record in the island. Rev. sister Maria Jeewanthi, Principal accepted the computer on behalf of the staff and the students.

M. Madushan (189) of St. Patrick College, P. Meshishan (186) of St. John Bosco College, S. Paraparan (186), P. Paruni (184), S. Shankam (183), all three from Jaffna Hindu Primary school and M. Thusitha (183) of Karaveddy Manikkavasagar college topped in the Jaffna peninsula.

Jaffna Additional Provincial Director of Education V.T. Selvarathnam, gracing the occasion thanked the Army for organizing the event which would work as a morale boost to the students.

Jaffna Civil Affairs Coordinating Officer who represented the SF-J Commander Major General G.A. Chandrasiri also attended the occasion with principals, teachers, parents, students and several Army Officers.
