GR Veterans' Association Members Pay Courtesy Call & Brief Army Chief

A three-member group of Gajaba Regiment (GR) veterans of the Gajaba Veterans' Association called on their newly-appointed Colonel of the Regiment, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Wednesday (22) at the Army Headquarters with a view to briefing him on the role of the Association and consulting him on how the future activities should be planned.

Lieutenant Colonel Deepal Subasinghe (Retd), President, Gajaba Veterans' Association, Lieutenant Colonel C.J.S Weerakoon, Secretary (Retd), Gajaba Veterans' Association and Major C de Silva (Retd), Treasurer, Gajaba Veterans' Association during the courtesy meet with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army explained him the objectives of the organization and how it would work in the future for the best interests of its veterans under the guidance of the new Colonel of the Regiment.

The Army Chief, extending his best wishes to the growth of the Association, assured them of the best cooperation as Colonel of the Regiment and requested them to enhance its welfare roles further. He also told them to explore possibilities of covering those welfare dividends to GR family members, too as the Association forges ahead with its future projects.

Towards the end of the cordial interaction, the Army Chief presented them mementos and wished them good luck with their project.
