"Gota's War" Sinhala Translation Released Before a Distinguished Gathering


The Sinhala version of the book on "Gota's War", authored by C. A. Chandraprema was released to the public on Monday (19) evening during a ceremony at Water’s Edge Hotel in Battaramulla.

The ceremony graced by Hon. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest and Mr. Lalith Weeretunga, Secretary to the President and Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development as Guests of Honour, was attended by a large gathering of invitees including religious dignitaries, the Chief Justice, Hon Ministers, Members of Parliament, Governor of the Central Bank, diplomats, Provincial Governors, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-service Commanders, Inspector General of the Police, Secretaries to state agencies and invitees.

Mr. Lalith Weeretunga, delivering a keynote addres to the occasion reiterated that had it not been the unfailing leadership of HE the President and meticulous strategic guidance of Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, nobody would have ever thought of winning this war. HE the President's determined vision and Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s proper coordination of the tri-services and the Police delivered a devastating blow to the terrorist organization, culminating the 30-year long war, Mr. Lalith Weeretunga said.

"Gota's War",  a book that embodies a comprehensive account of the country’s war specifies its root causes,  historical background, emergence of the terrorist leader, child soldiering, women recruitment, targets on civilians and state mechanism, human carnage,  deceitful peace negotiations and ceasefires,  foreign  connections, funding, sea operations and final stages of the humanitarian operations, giving illustrative details, some of which Mr  Gotabaya Rajapaksa himself as a past  soldier witnessed and experienced.

The first copies of the Sinhala translation were given away to Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa, Mr. Lalith Weeretunga, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa and several other distinguished attendees.
