Brigadier K.T.P. De Silva RSP ndu psc, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 61 Infantry Division, conducted an official visit to the 572 Infantry Brigade and its under command Battalions on 20 and 21 October 2024.
He inspected the construction site of the proposed 572 Infantry Brigade Headquarters at Bambaragastenna and was welcomed in a Guard Turnout upon his arrival at the Brigade premises.
Afterwards, the GOC attended a briefing conducted by the Commander of the Brigade. Following this, he toured the camp premises and visited the ancient Buddhist monastery at Kuragala.
Later, the GOC addressed the troops of the 572 Infantry Brigade and the 8 Gemunu Watch (8 GW) at the Regimental Centre of GW, Kuruvita. He also inspected the Battalion’s readiness for search and disaster relief operations, as well as its equipment.
On 21 October 2024, he visited the Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) base workshop in Udawalawa, the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineers (SLSME) in Thunkama, and the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Trade School in Kuttigala. Additionally, he paid a visit to the President’s House in Embilipitiya.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the visit.
