Major General C.A. Rajapaksha RSP, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division, commenced his official visits to the under-command Brigades and Battalions on 17 May 2024.
On 18 May 2024, the GOC visited the 582 Infantry Brigade and then he preceded to the 1 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and the 9 Gemunu Watch. Continuing his visits, the GOC arrived at the 581 Infantry Brigade in Kotagala on 20 May 2024, and on the following day, he visited the 1 Gemunu Watch. His tour concluded on 22 May 2024 with a visit to the 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
During each visit, the GOC was warmly welcomed by the respective Commanders of each Brigade and Commanding Officers. He was honoured in a Guard Turnout by the troops at the entrance of each Brigade and Battalion.
As part of the programme, the GOC planted a sapling, posed for group photographs, joined the All Ranks tea arrangement and addressed the troops at each location.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks joined the visit.
