The 20th General Conference of the World Buddhist Sangha Youth was held at Nagadeepaya Rajamaha Viharaya on 22 June 2024, followed by the 5th General Conference of the World Alliance of Buddhists at Valampuri Hotel in Jaffna on 23 June 2024.
Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna (SF – J), graced both events as a distinguished guest. The Chief Incumbent of Sri Nagavihara Temple and the Commander, SF – J warmly welcomed the delegation to Jaffna. During his address, Commander SF-J expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commander of the Army, officers of the Presidential Secretariat, the Acting District Secretary of Jaffna, and the Secretary General of the World Buddhist Sangha Youth for their invaluable guidance, direction, and instructions, which ensured the SF successful assistance in conducting the event.
The delegation comprised 37 Theros and 201 devotees from 24 countries, including Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam. This event demonstrated to the world that Sri Lanka enjoys peace and stability.
