German Ambassador Dr Morhard during a recent visit to the Jaffna peninsula met Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) with a view to receiving an update on the roles and tasks of the Army in the peninsula.
During cordial discussions, Major General Hathurusinghe explained how the Army has been throwing its support behind development of the area, with special programmes, meant to promote gestures of reconciliation and goodwill of the northern folk.
Matters related to the security aspect were also taken up during this meeting.
