General Service Corps Troops Build Their Own Facilities

Own troops-constructed new Vehicle Service Station, Other Ranks’ Restroom, TV Hall and a utility facility at the Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (RHQ-SLAGSC), Panagoda were vested in the soldiers during a recent brief ceremony.

Major General M.H.P. Mihindukulasooriya, Colonel Commandant, RHQ-SLAGSC as the Chief Guest, opened those utility service centers in the presence of a large gathering of officers and other rankers.

RHQ SLAGSC raised funds for those projects through entertainment programmes and among their own members in the Regiment as those places remained a long-felt requirement in the premises.

The new service centre, equipped with most modern accessories is able to accommodate both light and heavy vehicles for servicing.

TV auditorium as well as the Rest Room, coupled with a new set of shower rooms in the premises help facilitate both drivers and other rankers day and night since the SLAGSC Regiment troops are largely responsible for conduct of island-wide Army farms, financial affairs and a series of other services.

Major General Mihindukulasooriya cutting a ribbon symbolically inaugurated these services and the new buildings.

Several senior officers, Commanding Officers, officers and other ranks participated in the opening events.
