Garment Factory Affected Numbers Rise to 4,052- NOCPCO

As of this morning (25), a total of 368 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All of them were from locally-identified affectees, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (25), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 4,052. Of them, 1041 are factory employees and other 3,011 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees.

The flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 26 passengers has arrived. All of them were sent to tri forces-managed quarantine centres after medical procedures.

Within the day (25), 240 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 11 persons are from Nipuna Boossa QC, 03 persons from Habaraduwa Police QC, 58 persons from Hotel Blue Waters QC, 02 persons from Hotel Jetwing Blue QC, 01 person from Hotel Dolphin QC, 01 person from Hotel Kalpitiya Wind Beach QC, 01 person from Pelwehera Agriculture School QC, 06 persons from 18 SLNG QC, 28 persons from Biyagama Village Hotel QC, 07 persons from Horana Teachers' Training School, 23 persons from Waskaduwa Citrus Hotel QC, 01 person from Kosgoda Sheraton Hotel QC, 13 persons from Koggala Resort QC, 03 persons from Dambulla Hotel Green Paradise Hotel QC, 57 persons from Darganagar Teachers' Training School and 23 persons from Peradeniya Teachers' Training School.

To-date, 57,221 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (25), 8,158 persons in 74 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (24), 8,066 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 432, 801.

By 6.00 this morning (25), 70 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. 05 of them are expatriates and 65 are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
