The prize-awarding ceremony of the Army Inter-Regiment Judo Championship 2024 was held on 25 September 2024 at the Army Indoor Stadium in Panagoda Army Cantonment.
The tournament, which featured both team and individual categories based on weight classes, took place from 22 to 25 September 2024. Over 200 male and female competitors from 18 Army Regiments participated in the event.
Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Chairman of the Army Judo Committee, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was welcomed by Brigadier W.M.S.N. Wijekoon ndc AATO, Logistic Command, Security Forces Headquarters (East), who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Army Judo Committee.
The Gajaba Regiment dominated the championship, winning both the overall competition and the team events with a total score of 37 points, while the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps secured the runner-up position with 29.5 points.
In the novices' category, the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment emerged as champions, with the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment claiming the runner-up position.
Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks attended the prize-awarding ceremony.
Notable individual performances include:
- Corporal E.M.N.K. Chinthaka of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps – Gold Medal, Men's Individual Championship Open Event.
- Corporal W.L.A.H. Imesha of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps – Gold Medal, Women's Individual Championship Open Event.
