The pet project of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) ‘Paabala Mela’, the flagship fund-raiser at Hikkaduwa, slated to collect funds for welfare work of SLLI War Heroes, families of fallen or missing War Heroes and disable ones, ended on Tuesday (23) evening with Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, gracing the event as the Chief Guest.
A massive crowd with festive season at their doorstep together with hundreds of youngsters flocked to the carnival site on the final day. It was conducted for five days beginning last Friday (19).
Lieutenant General Ratnayake after opening the event late in the evening toured the site in the company of senior officers and visited stalls and entertaining features in the arrangement.
This annual event with all entertaining features and a chain of stalls that market household items was opened by Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI on Friday (19) as the Chief Guest. Major General U.A.B Medawela opened the mega event on Monday (22) as the Chief Guest.
