A four-day Leadership Training Workshop for budding Army Rugby players got underway at the Commando Regiment Training School in Kudaoya during 15-18 October in line with the conceptual notion suggested by the Chairman of the Army Rugby Committee, Major General M.G.W.W.W.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, and Director General General Staff (DGGS).
During this four-day project, the participants had the valuable opportunity to engage in team management, leadership, and adventure training practices through the coordination of Brigadier L.W.S.R Wettasinghe, Army Rugby Committee Secretary.
The dedicated staff of the Commando Regiment Training School provided unwavering support to ensure the success of this training initiative.
Notably, the training session also saw the active involvement of Mr. Shamili Afraz Nawaz, the head coach, and Mr. Dilan Dhanushka Soysa, the assistant coach of the Sri Lanka Rugby Federation.
Through a series of specialized military activities, the mental and physical fitness of the players were significantly enhanced. The adventurous training component was particularly beneficial, equipping the young rugby players with the skills and confidence to tackle challenging situations. This preparation will undoubtedly prove invaluable as these promising athletes look forward to competing in future inter-club rugby tournaments.
