Four-Day Meditation Programme Conducted for Members of Maha Sangha

In response to a request by the World Youth Buddhist Association of Sri Lanka, a four-day meditation programme was organized by Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) troops under the guidance of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army and Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and Colonel of the Regiment of MIR. The event took place at the MIR Regimental Headquarters Auditorium, Dambuluhalmillawewa, from 11 May 2024 to 14 May 2024.

The 'Siyam Lanka Dhamma Yathra' programme was conducted under the close supervision of the Centre Commandant of MIR, with the participation of more than 80 Members of Maha Sangha from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Nepal. The programme primarily focused on various meditation methods. The Mechanized Infantry Regiment provided meals, accommodation, and administrative facilities.

Upon completion of the meditation programme, on 16 May 2024, all Venerable Members of Maha Sangha participated in the 'Pahan Pooja' at 'Prarthana Bodhi' in Dambulla Golden Temple. The final event of the 'Dhamma Yathra' Programme was the State Vesak Programme at Matale, where more than 100 Members of Maha Sangha joined and travelled to Matale on foot from Dambulla.
