Australia-domiciled President’s Counsel and the former Public Trustee of Sri Lanka, Mr Sanath Weeratne, full of praise and admiration for “well-structured COVID-19 health work in Sri Lanka and efficient and organized Officers of the Army with great professionalism, grace and common courtesy equally to all” in a message conveyed to the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva opines that “he is proud as a Sri Lankan to state that systems in his residential country, in his personal opinion, do not seem to have such a streamlined or well-structured system in place as we do here in Sri Lanka at the moment.”
The message expressing his “personal gratitude and appreciation in relation to his arrival in Sri Lanka last Friday (1)” further stated that his hotel quarantining in Negombo at the moment is provided with “equally professional and courteous service by Army personnel, and most importantly makes certain hotel occupants comply with necessary COVID-19 prevention regulations and obligations.”
Lamenting that the government’s hard work, headed by HE the President and the tireless commitment of the COVID-19 prevention Task Force, spearheaded by General Shavendra Silva were not well communicated or relayed to Sri Lankans, domiciled overseas and the international community at large, he went on record stating that “he personally experienced results of the hard work with passion and commitment while the Commander of the Army is devoting to direct and command the Sri Lanka Army. I salute and feel proud to have a Commander of your caliber leading our Army. I have taken it upon myself as a duty I owe to our Nation to spread the word to my colleagues both here and overseas,” the message concluded saying that Officers of the Army displaying great professionalism in allocating, dispatching arrivals, equally caring those in quarantine, do owe his salute to all for their passion and commitment.
