The Army Directorate of Legal with the objective of educating tri service personnel on ‘Duty and Responsibility of Law Enforcement within the Scope of the Armed Forces Law Officers’ held an informative lecture on Friday (18) at the Army HQ.
Major General M.A.M Peiris (Rtd) USP, a former Director General at the Directorate of Legal, Army HQ and a former Judge Advocate General delivered the informative lecture on the ‘soldier's disciplinary action procedures and law enforcement’ and explained how those aspects could be further improved.
While the lecture session was on, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army on whose directions the project was launched joined the audience and listened to it. The lecture programme was organised by Colonel N.S Nallapperuma USP ndc, Director, Directorate of Legal.
More than 85 legal officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force participated in the sessions and interacted with the guest lecturer through questions and answers.
At the end of the session, the Army Chief presented a memento to the guest lecturer.
Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General W.B.S.M Abeysekara RSP VSV USP, Director General Financial Management, Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardane RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General and few other Senior Officers also participated in the arrangement.
