FMA-North-Central Builds New House for Father, Affected by Wild Elephant Attacks

The Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) - North Central troops upon receipt of sponsorship from a group of philanthropists have undertaken to build a new house to a civilian whose house was destroyed by elephants in the remote village area of Manelwewa in Thanthirimale.

The new house construction is to be sponsored jointly by Messrs Eranda Maldeniya, Nadeera Jayasinghe, Lalindu Samaraweera, Janaka Bandara, Pethum Ruhunage and Ajintha Gunasekara at the request of the Commander - FMA -North Central, Brigadier Himal Guruge who laid the corner-stone for its construction on Monday (9).

The beneficiary, Mr Sisira Kumara, a widowed father of three children nearly escaped death when wild elephants roaming in the area damaged his house completely when the family was away.

The corner-stone laying occasion was also attened by the Chief Incumbent of North & East Provinces, Ven Parawahera Chandarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent at Thanthirimale Rajamaha Viharaya. Mr Prasad Lokubalasuriya took the initiative in organizing the simple inaugural ceremony, adhering to health guidelines.
