Troops of the Forward Maintenance Area - East (FMA-East) under the Security Force HQ - East on Saturday (16) offered their helping hand to the ongoing renovations of the 'Demala Maha Seya', a stupa constructed by the King Parakramabahu, the Great in the 12th century BC that lies between the Gal Viharaya (rock shrine) and Thiwanka Pilimage (image house) in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa.
The full-day project, launched under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Channa Weerasuriya and the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - East, Major General Mahesh Abeyrathna was supervised by the Staff Officer 1 (Admin) at the FMA - East, Lieutenant Colonel Nandathilaka.
A total of 100 Army personnel representing all under command battalions of the FMA (E) contributed to this worthy cause.
