Due to the heavy rainfall in recent days caused by adverse weather conditions, the Katunayake, Awariwatta area in the Gampaha district has experienced significant flooding. In response to this emergency, the 141 Infantry Brigade facilitated transportation for 313 civilians to their workplaces on 05 June 2024.
In a coordinated effort, troops of the 1 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps were deployed, utilising two armoured vehicles and boats to navigate the flooded areas and ensure the safe transport of the affected civilians.
