First Wrist-Band Sold to Commander Inaugurating Second Round of Fund-Raising

A specially produced thematic wrist-band, meant to collect funds for the ‘Brave Hearts’ project, poised to construct wellness resorts for totally dependent disable War Heroes across the country, was released Wednesday (29) afternoon after the maiden one was sold to the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.

Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) who is behind the fund-raising project for construction, presented the first state of the art wrist-band to the Commander at his office, Army Headquarters during a brief ceremony.

Those multi-coloured wrist-bands, priced at Rs. 100/= each is to be made available to all Regimental Seva Vanitha Units and Regiments in the Army across the country. The SVAB through the sale of the wrist-band intends to raise funds for construction of the second provincial wellness resort under the ‘Brave Hearts’ project.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya, accepting the wrist-band from Mrs Jayasuriya made the first symbolic donation towards the project and wished it all the success. Mrs Rani Jayatillake, Secretary SVAB and a few senior officers were present at the occasion.
