The auspicious placement of the first brick on the harmika, 'HatharesKotuwa' (high pavilion) of the 'Sandhahiru Seya' Stupa at Anuradhapura took place on Monday (25) amid 'Pirith' chanting and blessings of the MahaSangha.
Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni on behalf of the Secretary of Defence Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne laid the first brick on this pavilion of this Supa, now fast nearing completion. HE the President several years ago initiated the construction of this third largest Stupa in this sacred old kingdom of Anuradhapura as a tribute to the memory of all fallen War Heroes.
Technically qualified workforce of the Tri-forces and the Civil Security Department personnel are currently giving finishing touches to the project.
