Distribution of blocked out lands to mark the inauguration of the first phase of the proposed Army's first-ever Ipalogama Ranaviru Town Project was held on Tuesday (29) at Army Headquarters with the participation of Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General L.P. Balagalle.
At the opening stage, one hundred plots of lands were distributed among differently-able members of tri forces and the Police and next of kin of Armed Forces and Police members who were killed in action.
Necessary infrastructure, worth several millions for development of these lands have already been provided with, and construction work is already under way. The proposed Ranaviru town is to be equipped with a bus station, shopping complex, school, library, medical center and a cemetery.
As invited guests, Government Surveyor and senior officials from the Department of Survey and a few senior Army Officers including Chief of Staff Major General S. H. S Kottegoda, Deputy Chief of Staff Major General AMCWB Senevirathne and Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Commandant Major General Sarth Fonsaka participated in this land distribution ceremony.
