First Batch of 287 Recruits at Mulankavil BTS Passes out to Go to New Places of Duties

The first batch of 287 new recruits trained at the Battalion Training School (BTS) of the 65 Division in the Course No-1 who completed the four-month long successful training at Mulankavil BTS under the close supervision and direction of the 65 Division and the 651 Brigade passed out on Saturday (28) in a simple ceremony that followed strict health guidelines.

Those new recruits belong to the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (11), Commando Regiment (103), Special Forces Regiment (109), Military Intelligence Corps (54) and the Sri Lanka National Guard (10) Regiment.

At the invitation of the BTS Chief Instructor Lieutenant Colonel Sumith Priyantha, Brigadier Wasantha Bandara, Commander 651 Brigade, graced the passing out event as the Chief Guest and delivered the closing address, in which he emphasized the soldiers’ responsibilities and importance of maintaining high standards of discipline and performance of duties since the armed forces are the strong pillars of a nation and human security.

Recruit G.T.N Gunasiri of the Military Intelligence Corps received the award for the Best Shooter, Recruit H.A.P Dewa of the Special Forces (SF), the award for the Best Recruit and the Recruit K.G.M.P Kotuwegedara of the SF carried away the award for the Best in Physical Training. They accepted those awards from the day's Chief Guest. Officer instructors, instructors and administrative staff members participated in the day’s ceremony, adhering to stipulated health guidelines.
