The final timing rehearsal of tomorrow’s National Independence Day commemoration at Colombo Independence Square was closely watched this morning (3) by Secretary Defence and Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army who discussed and gave final touches to the flow of the parade and other decorative arrangements.
Secretaries, all top level security brass, including General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Secretary, State Ministry of National Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Inspector General of Police, C.D. Wickramaratne, were at the Independence Square, Colombo 7 this morning (3) in order to closely mark timing in place in connection with the forthcoming 73rd National Independence Day on 4 February 2021.
After reviewing the parade, key points, dais and the parade lane, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) Secretary, Ministry of Defence with General Shavendra Silva, State Officials and others discussed health arrangements and seating preparations, etc. and suggested a few improvements where necessary.
