Final Batch of Army Construction Contingent Returns Home from Mali

1 Officer and 7 Other Rankers of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) of the Sri Lanka Army completing their 6 month long tenure of service at the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) who went there for construction of basic structural work returned home this evening (28).

Before this, another batch of 53 Other Rankers of the CES also returned to the island.

The CES contingent of the Army who initially left for Mali completed the construction of accommodation, sanitary facilities, stores and other requirements them to facilitate the incoming Combat Convoy Company (CCC) of the SL Army last December.

The 200-member CCC of the Sri Lanka Army for another UN Peace Keeping Mission left for Mali, a landlocked West African country, marred by ethnic tensions recently. This CCC of the Sri Lanka Army including 16 Officers and 184 Other Rankers is comprised of 10 Regiments of the Army.
