Felicitation Ceremony for Newly Promoted Major General

The 61 Infantry Division organised a felicitation ceremony for the newly promoted General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 61 Infantry Division, Major General K.T.P. de Silva RSP ndu psc, on 26 November 2024 at the Division Headquarters.

Upon arrival, the newly promoted Senior Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout and then welcomed by the Deputy GOC of 61 Infantry Division. This was followed by a Guard of Honour. The GOC then planted a sapling in the Division premises and posed for a group photograph. In his address to the troops, the Senior Officer reflected on his 33-year military career and emphasised the importance of cooperation between Officers and SNCOs. The ceremony concluded with an all-ranks tea.
