In response to a request, made by farming communities in the area, 592 Brigade troops of the 59 Division in the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) with the active support received from 11 Sri Lanka Field Engineers troops, inaugurated the repair work of the damaged Waweddikulam lake on Wednesday (19).
A brief ceremony near the damaged section of the lake bund began after religious rites and rituals with the participation of some farmers working there.
Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT who had instructed his officers to go ahead with the project, requested the farming communities to support the Army engineers, engaged in the renovation project.
A large group of farmers and civilians in the area participated in the inaugural ceremony.
