Troops who sacrificed in the deadly Mullaittivu attack in July 1996 when terrorists infiltrated their defences were recently commemorated at the Mullaittivu War Heroes' monument, together with Brigadier K.H.P.P Fernando, General Officer Commanding 59 Division.
During 17 - 18 July 1996, 44 brave officers and 1125 soldiers sacrificed their lives when LTTE terrorists infiltrated the defence lines and launched surprise attacks at them.
