More than 500 pairs of spectacles, donated to the Colombo Military Hospital by Germany-based Mr Sanath Kularatne are to be distributed among families of Army soldiers under treatment, according to Directorate of Army Medical Services.
Mr Kularatne, together with several of his family members recently visited Colombo Military Hospital and handed over the consignment of those reading glasses to Brigadier K.P Sumanapala, Director, Army Medical Services during a brief meeting.
Brigadier Sumanapala thanked the donor for his generosity and thoughtfulness, although he is resident abroad. The donor’s mother and the family took an exceptional interest in the collection of these glasses, it was revealed.
A programme organized in the hospital administration is to distribute these spectacles shortly among family members of Army officers and soldiers.
