Exchange of Courtesies &;amp; Parades Bid Farewell to Outgoing CDS


A formal Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Jagath Jayasuriya when he called at the Army Headquarters on Monday (15) morning before he relinquishes his office to take up an overseas appointment.

After reviewing the military salute, General Jayasuriya called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva in his office and exchanged courtesies and pleasantries, recalling his days in the Army as Commander of the Army upon completion of the war. The brief meeting culminated with exchange of mementoes that symbolize mutual understanding and goodwill.

A few senior officers, including Major General Channa Goonetillake, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Military Secretary, Major General B. Aruna Perera, Director General General Staff, Major General Kamal Gunaratne, Master General Ordnance, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General, Major General Renuka Rowel, Chief Signal Officer and Major General S.M Munasinghe, Director General Army Health Services were associated with the meeting at the Commander’s office.
