Everything Ready for the Cricket Tournament at Koggala


The Army six-a-side cricket tournament will get underway on 10, 11 and 12 April at the Free Trade Zone Grounds in Koggala, it was announced at a media briefing on Monday (06) evening at the Rock House Army Camp Auditorium, Modera.

Major General Ubaya Medawala, Chairman, Army Cricket Committee, addressing the gathering stated that the tournament which is held for the second consecutive year, has been designed to promote and identify talented cricketers suitable for the national level.

Sixteen Regimental Cricket teams and several leading premier league cricket teams, including teams from Jaffna District are expected to participate in the tournament.

The Organizing Committee stated that the winners will receive cash prizes and trophies whereas individual performances will also be separately awarded.

Brigadier Athula Galagamage, Director Sports, Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera, Director Media and several senior officers also participated in the press briefing.
