Students learning in the primary section at Etambagaskada Vidyalaya in the Vavuniya Educational Zone were the recipients of educational accessories and other supportive equipment, thanks to the initiatives taken by the Security Force HQ-Wanni (SFHQ-Wanni) in collaboration with a donor from Australia.
The project that distributed 65 gift parcels, sponsored by Mr Devinda and his family members, domiciled in Australia was initiated by Colonel Pradeep Mapalagama, Colonel General Staff at Directorate of Operations, Sri Lanka Army Headquarters. Those gift parcels consisted of text books, stationery, pens, pencils, instrument boxes, exercise books, etc and the distribution coincided with the school's formal prize-giving ceremony where a special lunch treat for both students and teachers was also held on 22nd June 2022.
Those beneficiaries in Grade 1-5, very much affected by economic hardships received those gift parcels from the 56 Division’s General Officer Commanding, Major General Saman Liyanage as the Chief Guest. Colonel Sanjaya Perera, Commander, 563 Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 7 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops facilitated the distribution of those incentives in close coordination with the Principal, teachers and Zonal Education authorities.
The Chief Incumbent at Etambagaskada Sri Sudharmarama Viharaya, Ven Sri Sumangala Siddhartha Thero, the sponsor, Mr Devinda and his family members joined the distribution and provision of special lunch treat to more than 75 students and teachers who were present at the location.
