Recent heavy monsoon rains have led to severe flooding in several areas, resulting in the displacement of numerous families. In response to this situation, a distribution of essential items was organized at Security Forces Headqurters - West on 19 June 2024, following a request made by Major General Amal Karunasekera (Retired). The relief effort targeted 35 children from Waga Sri Rathanasara Maha Vidyalaya who were among those most affected by the floods.
The initiative was made possible through the financial contributions of Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander of Security Forces - West, along with support from the Civil Affairs Officer.
During the event, Charithma Dinendri Mavitage was honoured for her exceptional bravery. She rescued four individuals highlighting courage and selflessness. As a token of appreciation for her heroic act, Charithma was presented with a financial reward during the distribution program.
