Engineer Troops Nearing Completion of Public Ground Renovation

12 (V) Corps of Engineer Services (CES) Regiment troops are currently giving finishing touches to the complete renovation of the Yattapatha public playground at 7th Mile Post in Kalutara district and construction of the pavilion by 5 Field Engineer Regiment under the supervision of Briagadier Asanka Perera, Commander of the General Engineer Brigade who visited the construction site a few days ago to assess the progress of the project.

A project to develop 08 playgrounds of schools and one public ground in Kalutara district was entrusted to the Army in the recent 7th “Gama Samaga Pilisandarak” programme that was conducted at Yattapatha village on 23 January 2021. Out of those 09 playgrounds, renovation of four playgrounds have already been completed as per directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army under the guidance of the Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara and the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division Major General Chandana Wijayasundera.

The total cost of the project is Rs 7 million and it is funded by the Presidential Secretariat. Procurement process is carried out by the District Secretariat in the Kalutara District.
