With elaborate arrangements and programmes, the 12 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C), marked its 3rd anniversary, giving pride of place to religious observances.
Pirith chanting on Tuesday (1) and offer of Heel Daana (breakfast), the following day to a group of 36 members of the Maha Sangha, kicked off the anniversary commemoration in sequence.
A sports tournament with all Brigades and Units under the 12 Division participating in cricket, handball, kabbadi, elle, basketball, football, tug of war, finally gave the overall championship to the sportsmen of 10 (volunteer) Gemunu Watch (GW) of the 122 Brigade.
The ceremonies reached their apex when the troops of the 12 GW accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour to the General Officer Commanding, 12 Division on Wednesday (2). On the same day, the General Officer Commanding sat together with all ranks for a luncheon treat as a formality in military ceremonies.
As dusk fell, all troops, headed by Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, SFHQ-C, together with a host of invitees including state officials, sat down to enjoy the musical evening, coloured by musicians from Sri Lanka Artillery.
