Eight More Expatriates Confirmed Positive-NOCPCO

As of this morning (11), 08 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 epidemic. All of them are expatriates from Maldives (5), Singapore (1), Saudi Arabia (1) and Dubai (1) who were in quarantine at Koggala Long Beach Hotel Quarantine Centre (QC), Rajagiriya Ayurvedic QC and Shangri La Hotel Hambantota QC, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 am this morning (11), the total number of detainees for quarantining at Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts stands at 649. Of them, 528 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 67 staff members, 5 guest staffers, 48 family members and close associates, including 01 person who got in contact with the infected one in the Welikada Prison.

The flight QR 668 from Saudi Arabia with 67 passengers, the flight EK 648 from Dubai with 420 passengers, the flight SUS 7722 A from Saudi Arabia with 07 passengers, and the flight UL 455 from Japan with 03 passengers arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (11) and the flight CE 9034 from India will arrive during the day. All of them were expected to be referred to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.

Within the day (11), 115 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 49 persons are from Welisara QC, 07 persons from Nipuna Boossa QC, 01 person from Mihinthale QC, 40 persons from Jetwing Beach QC, 03 from Kosgoda Sheraton QC, 12 persons from Sigiriya Village QC and 03 persons from Heikiththa QC.

Likewise, 39,734 individuals by this morning (11) have been sent back home after quarantining. 6,206 persons in 59 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (10), 1810 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 246,888.

Meanwhile, 09 positive COVID-19 cases after full recovery left hospitals early this morning (11). 07 of them are expatriates and 02 are inmates from Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre. Accordingly, 636 individuals, associated with the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts at Kandakadu have left so far after recovery. A total of 13 infected persons, connected to the Rehabilitation Centre are still under treatment. Since no positive cases have been reported from society other than those arriving from overseas, all Sri Lankans are urged to continue their health practices and help prevention of its transmission as per instructions given by health authorities.
