Another phase of the ongoing ‘Blissful Army Life’ programme designed to improve positive-thinking attitudes and mental health of soldiers of the Army was held at the 4 Volunteer Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) on Thursday (3).
The full-day seminar was attended by 8 Lady Officers and 201 female Other Rankers.
Mr Thilina Madushanka and Mr Rasika Hadagoda Arachchi of the National Child Protection Authority jointly delivered a lecture on ‘Child Protection’. Another lecture on ‘Personal Hygiene and Venereal Diseases’ was also conducted by Dr H.P Lalith Priyankara, Head of Venereal Diseases and HIV Prevention Unit at Anuradhapura Hospital.
This programme was coordinated by the Directorate of Psychological Operations at the Army Headquarters.
In the meantime, a similar programme got underway at the main hall in the Defence Services College in Colombo 2 to educate parents of the College students.
350 parents listened to the lecture on ‘Parents and Children’, conducted by Colonel R.M.M Moneragala, Consultant Psychiatrist and Mr Rasika Hadagoda Arachchi of the National Child Protection Authority.
